Passover
Passover refers to the tenth plague visited upon the Egyptians when the angel of death “passed over” the homes of the Hebrew slaves.
During Passover, we recount the story of the exodus of the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. We retell the story, eat symbolic foods, and eat matzah for 7-8 days in commemoration of the fact that the Israelites were in such a hurry to flee Egypt (the Pharoah had proven to be rather fickle) that they didn’t have time to allow their bread to rise before baking it.
Some years we coordinate a community Seder, other years we hold community home seders. Please check the calendar for details as they become available.
